Let's cook! Cooking Indian food is something I have been doing all my life since I started living by my own. I have always found it amazing how simple and complex it can get. On a day to day basis, I try to make these simple recipes to find pleasure and also bring back the taste of India. Nothing fulfills you better than what you have grown up eating, and this holds true for everyone out there!

Here are the ingredients I used in the video: What I eat in a day | cooking Indian food in America (simple and easy meals)


Breakfast: Sabudana Khichdi

Sabudana or Tapioca pearls
mustard seeds
Indian green chilies
onion (optional)
boiled potatoes
coriander/cilantro/hara dhaniya
peanuts (roasted) or you can roast the raw peanuts like I did
black pepper
salt to taste (I used white and black salt or kala namak)
lime/lemon juice


Lunch: Homestyle Bhindi with paratha / Okra fry with Paratha

Bhindi or Okra
carom seeds/ ajwain
Indian green chilies
garlic (optional)
onion (optional)
turmeric powder
salt to taste
dhaniya powder or ground coriander powder
red chilly powder (optional - I did not use it, put a lot of green chilies instead if you like spicy food)
lime/lemon juice (You can also use dry mango powder or amchur powder instead)


Dinner - Vegetable Pulao / pulav

Indian basmati rice (washed and soaked for around 20-30 mins)
whole spices - bay leaf or tez patta; laung or cloves; black pepper; cumin seeds or jeera
onions
potatoes
carrots
green onions/scallions
bell peppers (red, orange, yellow, green)
green peas
gobi or cauliflower (broccoli or cabbage can also be used)
tomato ketchup
salt to taste
ground black pepper

PS - I like to use any vegetables I have and don't shop specifically for making pulao, that's the beauty of it! throw in any vegetables you like and have and voila!
