In this historical reference clip, STEM education thought leader Anne-Marie Imafidon discusses how, despite the contribution to French contemporaneous science of both males and females, the Eiffel Tower’s dedication to 72 scientists only includes the names of men.

Citing the example of mathematician, physicist, and philosopher Marie-Sophie Germain, Anne-Marie highlights that her initial acceptance was only achieved because, as interactions within the scientific community were limited to written correspondence, her peers thought she was a man… with her name missing from the Eiffel Tower as a consequence of the “discovery” of her gender.
