Madhupur is a town with a municipality in Deoghar district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is a subdivisional town.
Madhupur Junction railway station was used to store coal which was used as a fuel for steam engines.

Historically, there were many notable people, particularly from Bengal, who owned a house in Madhupur and lived there for long periods whenever they could. Amongst them were Sir Asutosh Mookerjee known as Justice Mukherjee. His younger son, Uma Prasad Mookerjee, the writer famous for his travel books spent time there
छह जुलाई, 1901 को जन्मे डॉ. मुखर्जी के पिता आशुतोष मुखर्जी अपने समय के बड़े वकील थे। उन्होंने झारखंड के मधुपुर में भी एक आलीशान मकान बनवाया था, जिसे बहुत पहले भूमाफियाओं ने टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर बेच डाला।
उसी मधुपुर वाले घर में बांग्ला के प्रतिष्ठित कवि काजी नजरूल इस्लाम स्वास्थ्य लाभ के लिए 1942 के जुलाई महीने में कुछ महीने रहे थे।
दरअसल, श्यामा प्रसाद के पिता सर आशुतोष मुखर्जी भी बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी थे एवं शिक्षाविद् के रूप में विख्यात थे।
वे एक बार न्यायालय में चल रहे किसी मामले की जांच करने मधुपुर आए थे। कार्य पूरा होने के बाद वे कलकत्ता पहुंचने के लिए मधुपुर रेलवे स्टेशन पर पहुंचे। ट्रेन आधा घंटा विलंब से आनेवाली थी। उनके अर्दली ने प्रतीक्षालय में सामान रख दिया। इसी बीच मधुपुर का अंग्रेज एसडीएम वहां पहुंचा तथा प्रतीक्षालय में आराम कुर्सी पर पसरकर चुरुट पीने लगा।1 मुखर्जी धोती-कुर्ता पहने प्लेटफार्म पर टहल रहे थे। जब वे प्लेटफार्म से प्रतीक्षालय में आए, तब भी अंग्रेज पैर पसारे चुरुट पीता रहा। मुखर्जी का अर्दली उन्हें पानी पीने के लिए गिलास देने लगा तो उसकी वर्दी देखकर वह समझ गया कि ये कोई बड़ी हस्ती हैं।
उसने एकांत पाकर अर्दली से पूछा-आपके साहब कौन हैं।’ जब उसे बताया गया कि ये जस्टिस मुखर्जी हैं, तो उसने चुरुट फेंका और खड़ा होकर उन्हें लंबा सलाम ठोका।

Syama Prasad Mukherjee (6 July 1901 – 23 June 1953) was an Indian politician, barrister and academician, who served as the Minister for Industry and Supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet. After falling out with Nehru, protesting against the Nehru-Liaquat Pact, Mukherjee resigned from Nehru's cabinet. With the help of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, in 1951.

Why Madhupur?
