Retired Sydney Swans star and NeuRA Foundation board member Jude Bolton has warned dementia cases in the Western Pacific region are set to triple by 2050.

A new roadmap has been unveiled to outline the simple steps people can take to combat the disease.

Neuroscience Research Australia’s new roadmap calls for Australia to play a critical role in leading dementia care, prevention, and research.

According to NeuRA, up to 45 per cent of new dementia cases could be prevented with simple lifestyle changes.

Combating obesity, depression, sleep disturbances, social isolation and hearing loss could all help.
