The Thames Jubilee Flotilla contained more than 1,000 boats, 20,000 people and stretched 7.5 miles (12.1 km) long in all. The parade is being organised by the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation, funded by private donations and sponsorship.

The Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of The Queen's reign. The central weekend of celebrations over 2-5 June include a 1000 boats in a River Pageant, 2000 community street parties, Pop Concert at Buckingham Palace, 4000 Beacons being lit and National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral.
