EMD-equipped locomotives pulling freight and passenger trains as they cross the arctic circle at the Saltfjellet mountain area, Norway. Recorded on February 19, 2013. The temperature was at about -18°C (0°F) at noon, but fell to -20°C (-4°F) during the afternoon as the sun disappeared behind a mountain.
This video shows the following locomotives/trains:
- RailCare type T68 (Vossloh Euro 4000, EMD 16-710), northbound, hauling a CargoNet freight trein.
- NSB Di 4 653 (EMD 16-645), southbound passenger train.
- NSB D i4 654 (EMD 16-645), northbound passenger train, climbing, nice sound.
- Di 3 616 (EMD 16-567), southbound. This old locomotive is owned by the Norwegian Railroad Museum and is pulling a train belonging to the Norwegian National Rail Administration (Jernbaneverket). Not in regular service, this train was a part of a special event.
- CargoNet type CD 312 (Vossloh Euro 400, EMD 16-710) hauling a northbound freight train as the daylight fades.
