Not all simulators are bad games. The point is that the genre itself requires almost zero innovation in order to succeed.

*2 This is somewhat hyperbole, but it’s not far off. SB3 offers almost zero in terms of alternative progression to what can be considered standard.

*3 It should be noted that by the time I was collecting this footage, SB2 had long undergone a transformation from its old part based terrain to the new smooth terrain it has today. This definitely puts a scar in the game’s aesthetics, and also makes my point look less valid in the video, had someone not known otherwise. If you’re curious, check out old videos of SB2 to see what it originally looked like (For some reason a lot of the fog/lighting looked much better in old SB2 as well. Floor 5 is an excellent example of this).
