The leader of the militant group Hezbollah says Israel aimed to kill thousands of people in Lebanon as it detonated communication devices this week.

37 people have died after two days of explosions across Lebanon. The blasts came in two waves - beginning with thousands of pagers, including those used by the militants. Then, a day later, other devices — including hand-held radios — detonated. Some of those targeted in the second wave were laying victims of the first attack to rest.

Hassan Nasrallah has just responded to the attacks, saying they violated "red lines." He described them as a declaration of war by Israel on the Lebanese people.
