Our story begins with the number of years written on the tombstone which marks the death of Sheikh Maulana Malik Ibrahim, which is 822 Hijri or 1419 AD at that time, the land of Java, especially Gresik, was still controlled by the Majapahit kingdom under the reign of King Wikramawardhana.
