“Watch Dogs is one of my favorite games that I have never played! How is that possible? I have a list of games that I haven’t played even though they belong to genres I enjoy, but I never got around to them or wasn’t motivated enough to play them. However, I can spend hours on YouTube watching their walkthroughs or various highlights. One of these games is Watch Dogs. From its highly promising trailer at E3, I was expecting it to be one of the best next-gen games at the time, and even today, some YouTubers have turned it into a John Wick simulator! Now that I’ve finally tried it, it is indeed fun, with very interesting player controls and moves, as well as a very intriguing design of the NPCs in the open world. I think it was very advanced for its time and can still offer a good experience today. Also, Aiden Pearce as the protagonist really nails it, in my opinion.”

Positives:

• Unique Hacking Mechanics: The game’s central feature of hacking offers a fresh take on open-world gameplay.
• Engaging Open World: The city feels alive with dynamic NPCs and a realistic environment.
• Solid Protagonist: Aiden Pearce is a compelling character with a strong personal story.
• Diverse Combat Options: Players can choose stealth or action-heavy approaches to missions.
• Advanced for Its Time: For its release, the game offered impressive visuals and innovative gameplay mechanics.

Negatives:

• Repetitive Missions: Some of the mission structures can feel repetitive over time.
• Underdeveloped Storyline: The main narrative doesn’t always live up to the expectations set by the initial premise.
• Inconsistent AI: NPC behavior can sometimes feel unrealistic or buggy.
• Driving Mechanics: The vehicle handling can feel clunky and less refined compared to other open-world games.
• Graphical Downgrade: The final game didn’t fully meet the graphical expectations set by its early trailers.
