We are back! And this time with “Charagua” - an instrumental composition by the Chilean musician Víctor Lidio Jara Martínez (1932-1973). Martínez was one of the most important Chilean musicians and he initiated the “Nueva Canción Chilena” movement. The song was first released on the 6th album “Autores Chilenos” (1971) by the Chilean band Inti-Illimani. The song title could refer to the small town “Charagua” in the southern part of Bolivia, or perhaps there is more to say about the title and the background story of the song. It has been performed by many groups, and has also been published under the name "Danza nº 5". Our arrangement is based on the original Inti-Illimani recording from 1971. In our version the cello plays the quena parts, and the timle solo is played on a baritone charango (Charangón/Ronroco). It has been awesome to reconnect and collaborate together again and hope you enjoy our interpretation of this beautiful song!
