Cartland Zhou is a Ph.D. candidate at the UCLA Political Science Department. Cartland is an international relations scholar passionate about understanding conflict dynamics through the lens of arms transfers. She is also a computational statistician driven to build novel tools to better examine complex international relations dynamics.

Her dissertation is a book project examining mechanisms under which arms exporting states leverage arms transfers for geopolitical strategic gains and their implications for interstate disputes and conflicts.
