Meet Skeffa Chimoto, the youngman from Thanga village, TA Mwansambo in Nkhotakota who had to travel from his home village with his father just to get exposure as a budding musician. He comes from a humble background with his father working as a tailor and a stay at home mum.
He has risen to stardom having navigated the treacherous music path, rising from a choir member to one of the music stalwarts in Malawi. He has managed to remain apolitical, refusing to sing political songs in praise of politicians, although he accepts that he performs at political rallies he says he sticks to his original songs.
He is a soft spoken and down to earth man whose music communicates to most Malawians.
