Women have been writing songs about their man doing them wrong for literally hundreds of years. The title of this piece, "A chantar," is often translated as "I must sing," but a more accurate rendering might be "If you weren't such a jerk, I wouldn't have to sing this." This is an instrumental version, but I provide an interpretation of the rest of the lyrics, which are in a medieval language called Old Occitan.

2:36 About the arrangement

My harp arrangement fits on a 24-string harp with a low note of C below middle C. I describe how you can move the left hand down an octave if your harp has more strings and you want more bass.

Get this arrangement and more in my book, Enjoy the Dorian Mode. The songs span 800 years of music in 26 arrangements. Buy it here, see example scores, and read a page of the notes for "A chantar," including a picture of the original notation from a thirteenth-century manuscript: https://www.enjoytheharp.com/enjoy-th...

I am a Certified Music Practitioner and harp coach. I teach harp to adults over videoconference in regular or catch-as-catch-can lessons. Find out more and contact me: https://www.enjoytheharp.com/
