Mokudo Taisen Deshimaru, the modern-day Bodhidharma, arrived in Paris in the summer of 1967. A simple monk, without money, who does not speak the language. In his luggage, only the fresh seed of Zen.

Taisen Deshimaru arrived in Paris in 1967 to pass on Bodhidharma's teaching to a new generation. He believes that the spirit of Zen can catch on in France, like the seed of a flower. He first wanted to bring Zen to the United States, but they use zen for business, industry, psychology, psychoanalysis. "I want to help the true god. I want to come back to the true God" "God is down. God is "fatigué", tired" Zen master: "All religions have an object, you pray to become rich or happy. If we have a purpose, it is not strong. We must not have any purpose. You cannot concentrate" Zen is not asceticism, nor mortification, but for cosmic life, he says. "We must not put limits. Otherwise, life becomes narrow" "We come back to animals in modern times! Everything is too easy... We drive cars and no longer want to walk" "Family education is a mistake. Warm, food. Too "softy-softy"? Our body becomes weak"

Captive, well-fed animals in zoos are weak. They lack activity. Wild animals are strong. Intelligence is important. But we also need a strong body.

We must now merge the Asian and European civilizations. Zen is the essence of Asian culture. Will there be a spiritual renaissance through the meeting of Western tradition and Zen? I think so. It's important that everybody become God.
