From a 1995 episode of "The Indoor Garden" TV series: These instructions give you an easy expressway to encourage a bromeliad to bloom. In this video clip plant experts, Liz, and Wally from the United States Botanic Garden, demonstrate how to do this.

Successful care of bromeliads will usually result in one or two "pups" sprouting up from the "mother" plant. They can be separated and placed into their own containers after they are about 3" tall. They will usually bloom some time after the plant is a year old.

This episode was videotaped at the US Botanic Garden in Washington, DC. The videotape has been transferred to a DVD, then converted to an HD .mp4 format.

"The Indoor Garden" aired in the Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD areas on cable and local PBS station WHUT during the 90's.

Liz had over seventeen years of hands-on learning and experience in the retail and commercial aspects of the horticultural biz before producing this series.
