Debuting two weeks after his 1973 first-round selection, Dave Winfield spent eight seasons of a 22-year Hall of Fame career in San Diego. A two-time Gold Glove Award winner and four-time All-Star as a Friar, he led the team in hits and home runs on five occasions and RBI six times. Winfield's No. 31 was retired by the club in 2001, the same year he became the first player to enter Cooperstown as a Padre.
