Athena was born with a rare condition that eventually caused an arteriovenous malformation in the brain. This eventually lead to a brain bleed, seizure and stroke. After being rushed to the hospital, Dr. Thomas Kosztowski, Neurosurgeon at Texas Back Institute, performed emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on her brain. After a second planned surgery she has been recovering well and was "super grateful" to everyone who has been on her healing journey.
