The kingdom of God was founded on 12 Apostles who were ordinary people (even poor/failed).
They hope that by following Jesus their lives will change. They had asked when Jesus would be a King but Christ said they did not need to know the time and 'when', because the most important thing is that God will give them (and us) power through the Holy Spirit who will make us His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts Apostle 1:6-9).

The existence of the Holy Spirit is so important in our lives because once we walk and live with Him, the Power that given by God's Spirit will be able to drastically change our lives.
