Two people, believed to be foreign nationals, were killed when a tree uprooted and fell on their car in Lebuh Gereja today.

The incident occurred around 2.30pm, following strong winds and heavy rains in recent days here.

The victims, a father and daughter believed to be visiting from China, were inside the car parked at the Pinang Peranakan Mansion when the tree fell.

Both were seated on the left side of the vehicle.

The driver and co-driver were able to escape unharmed.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid confirmed the incident.
