We each yearn to be seen, loved and accepted. We value when others acknowledge our strengths, our contributions, and even our presence. That desire to be loved and received as we are, is stamped in our DNA.

Can I propose that God wants to meet that desire for intimacy and fill you to the brim with His love?

If that has not been your experience and if instead you experience God as distant and disinterested, I invite you to take a listen to today’s episode.

I’m joined by Fr. Boniface Hicks, a Benedictine monk and the Director of Spiritual Formation at Saint Vincent Seminary.

I first learned of Fr. Hicks through my classes with Encounter Ministries and through a book he co-authored titled, “Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love.” It started as an optional reading assignment that I wasn’t planning to read (I’ve read a lot of books on prayer and couldn’t imagine how this could be anything new- prideful I know!), to being a book I couldn’t put down and now recommend to everyone!

In our conversation, we talk about how:

Prayer is both human and relational

God is vulnerable with us and how our vulnerability with him begets true intimacy

Praying with scripture and immersing ourselves in the Gospel stories will lead us to the intimacy we desire

To lean into the silence of prayer and not “freak out” by what bubbles up within us or when we don’t seem to perceive anything from God

It was a true joy to speak with Fr. Boniface and I know you will be encouraged through our conversation.
