Dream beaches, breathtaking volcanic landscapes, unique waterfalls and untouched mangrove forests: just a few hours away from the holiday island of Bali lies one of the most varied and original regions of Indonesia: East Java (Jawa Timur). Reporter Patrick Wira is traveling with friends for a week from the capital of East Java, Surabaya, to the south coast directly by the sea. The journey takes him through the volcanic desert in the Bromo National Park, to the Tumpak Sewu waterfall and to the Tiga Varna nature reserve. He sometimes travels through East Java in an off-road vehicle in the middle of the volcanic desert, as a passenger on motorcycles towards mountain peaks and fishing boats along the coast. (More beautiful areas of Southeast Asia, such as Sarazar's tour of Thailand, can be found in the ARD media library: https://1.ard.de/indonesia-ostjava-?yt=d)
