Periava speaks on Grihasāshrama pointing out the beauty of the union of Parvati and Parameshvara. He highlights the importance of this stage in life: it is this which supports and upholds the rest of society's efforts. He says, "How does one bring excellence in the practice of the Dharma called Dāmpatyam or couple-hood? What are the good things that the partners need to know? What is the meaning of the excelent Samskāram, "Saptapadi" taken in the Vaideeka marga? What is the intended purpose of these 7 steps? Affection, responsibility, duty, harmonious effort, focused and joint execution, being able to compromise for a good cause, and being uncompromising on performing good deeds."
