Wali Sanga is a propagator of Islam in Indonesia, especially in Java. In 75 years, they have succeeded in converting Javanese society, which is predominantly Hindu and Buddhist, into Islam. In Javanese society, there are many stories about who they are and what their role is in Islamizing the land of Java. In this video we try to summarize from many sources about Wali Sanga.
Because there are so many stories, and sometimes one story and the other contradict each other, it will be very difficult for us to get everyone to agree with the narrative we have chosen. 1. Shaykh Ibrahim Samarkandy
Before we discuss about the guardian sanga, we first discuss their ancestor: Shaykh Ibrahim Samarkandy. Shaykh Ibrahim Asmarakandi or Shaykh Ibrahim Samarkandy who is known as the father of Raden Ali Rahmatullah or Sunan Ampel, his tomb is located in the village of Gisik Harjo, Palang District, Tuban Regency. Sheikh Ibrahim As-Samarkandi is estimated to have been born in Samarkand, Central Asia in the 14th century AD. Babad Tanah Jawi mentions his name as Makdum Brahim Asmara or Maulana Ibrahim Asmara. The term follows the pronunciation of the Javanese tongue in pronouncing As-Samarkandy, which later changed to Asmarakandi. According to the Chronicle of Cerbon, Shaykh Ibrahim Asmarakandi is the son of Shaykh Karnen and comes from the country of Tulen. If the source of the Babad Cerbon data is Authentic, it means that Sheikh Ibrahim Asmarakandi is not a native of Samarkand, because the country of Tulen in question refers to the Tyulen Region, a small archipelago located on the northeastern edge of the Caspian which is part of the Kazakh region, precisely in the northwest direction of Samarkand.
In a number of studies of Javanese histography, the character of Shaykh Ibrahim Asmarakandi is often equated with Shaykh Maulana Malik Ibrahim, causing difficulties in studying the life story and origins and genealogy of his family, which often ends with the denial of the existence of Shaykh Ibrahim ASmarakandi as a historical figure. In fact, the site of the Tomb and Gate and the Mihrab of the mosque, which are within the Archaeological Service, indicate a different location and era from the Maulana Malik Ibrahim tomb site.
According to the Chronicle Ngampeldenta, Shaykh Ibrahim Asmarakandi, known as Shaykh Molana, was a propagator of Islam from the land of Champa, precisely on Mount Sukasari, Shaykh Ibrahim ASmarakandi is said to have succeeded in converting the king of Champa to Islam, and was taken by his son-in-law. The wife of Sheikh Ibrahim Asmarakandi was named Dyah Candra Wulan or Dewi Candra Wulan. From Dyah Candra Wulan, Sheikh Ibrahim ASmarakandi has children named Ali Murtadho and Raden Rahmat.
When Shaykh Ibrahim Asmarakandi went to Java, with him were his two sons, Ali Murtadho and Ali Rahmatullah, his nephew Abu Burereh or Abu Hurairah the son of King Champa, and a number of relatives from the Champa Kingdom. Their intention of coming to the island of Java was to meet his wife's sister, Dewi Darawati, who was married to the King of Majapahit, and to spread Islam in the Majapahit kingdom.
