Alanis Sophia is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter who is currently competing on season 19 of American Idol. Her first major break came in 2013 when she appeared on season 1 of “La Voz Kids,” the Spanish-language version of The Voice Kids. The then 12-year-old singer performed Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” for her blind audition and earned her a chair turn from coach Paulina Rubio.
Alanis made it to the finals of the show where she would finish as the runner-up.
For her audition, Alanis held up her toy microphone and sang “Anyone” by Demi Lovato.
Idol judge Katy Perry told Alanis’s mom her daughter was “the best we’ve seen today,” and all three judges voted to send Alanis to Hollywood week with a Golden Ticket.
