In this video I am demonstrating the Tama S.L.P. Series 5.5" x 14" Dynamic Bronze snare drum and like the name states, this drum is indeed very dynamic. It goes from very soft to very loud in a musical way, and that is always a good thing to have on the gig or in the studio. Bronze is not usually associated with aggressive sounds, but this drum brings a character that is aggressive and powerful yet has plenty of warmth and tone. You get clear, sharp attack from the rim shots. Soft ghost notes and buzz strokes stand out and don't get lost or covered up.

This drum is a 5.5" x 14" extra-thin 1.2mm hairline bronze shell. It comes with 10-hole Die-Cast Hoops, Brass Tube Lugs, a very easy to use and adjust pull back throw off, and 20-strand Starclassic Carbon Steel Snappy snares. That hardware coupled with the thin bronze shell bring a wonderful snare sound, clear and rich with a dark vibe that would work really well in rock and metal music.

The snare plays really well. It is so important for a snare drum to feel good, not only sound good. You may be surprised to know there are drums that have a good sound but feel like hitting either a hard floor or a wet towel. This drum responsive and enjoyable to play. The hard back beat rim shots were not hard on my hands at all and, it is sensitive enough to play anything quietly.

There are so many great snare drums in the Tama S.L.P. line. Tama has worked hard to create drums that will work well is any musical situation. Whatever sound you are looking for you can find it in the S.L.P. line. If you in the market for an aggressive and rich, yet clear and sensitive snare drum then this Tama S.L.P. Series Dynamic Bronze Snare is something to take a closer look at.
