I have sometimes found a customer wants a replica of its original door panel. These 'original' replica-sewings, including the low-relief channel were heat-embossed with a big hydraulic press.
The way I show in this video is an option to customize a door-panel in leather material (1.3 thick).
As a way of training I have exaggerated with a 9 mm depth for the channel around the grey insert. Regularly, these channels are 5 mm deep and would be much easier to handle.
As a way of testing I also have thoroughly used polyurethane glue. Before, I mostly used the traditional yellow glue on wide areas and polyurethane glue on very small irregular areas.
As we can see in the video a hair dryer (hot air) was useful to activate the transparent adhesive. The dryer mouth can get close to leather material and causes no damage.
I hope you find this video useful!
