Videos from yesterday's K9 Nose Work Class with Jenny Schneider, CNWI. After one round of doing a box drill (meant to teach a dog to search each box in succession), we moved on to container searches. Instead of boxes arranged in two straight lines (the positioning for an Odor Recognition Test, which Keaton already passed), they're positioned differently as they may be in an NW1 Trial. We're training for our first trial on November 5th. After one round of doing a box drill, we moved on to container searches. Instead of boxes arranged in two straight lines (the positioning for an Odor Recognition Test, which Keaton already passed), they're positioned differently as they may be in an NW1 Trial. There are six container searches in the video. In the first search for each odor the box location is known to me, and in the second search for the same odor the box location is not known to me. Understanding how Keaton's behavior changes when he's "on odor" is what tells me he's found it. We aced it!
