On May 15th, 1999, Eric was shot two times and was instantly paralyzed from the waist down. Ever since, Eric has been bound to a wheelchair and has not been able to walk, changing the trajectory of his life.

A few years after being shot and paralyzed, Eric fell in love with the world of wheelchair sports. Yet, he found that those who were disabled or paralyzed by street violence didn’t have the same support within the adaptive sports world as others.

He founded Broken Winggz to support those who have been disabled by street gun violence and bridge the gap in adaptive sports in Chicago.
