40 years since The Pointer Sisters album 'Break Out' began its slow burn towards multi million selling status. Released in November of 1983, it was slow to catch fire, but the stream of hit singles eventually helped it to be certified triple Platinum. With the first single issued from it 'I Need You' stalling at #48 in America, the strategy then was to turn to the more vibey, danceable tracks and that worked! 'Jump', 'Automatic', 'Neutron Dance', and 'Baby Come and Get It' would all chart success across an 18 month period.

'Jump' (For My Love)' would garner the sisters a Grammy; whilst 'Neutron Dance' was a huge success thanks to its inclusion in the soundtrack for 'Beverly Hills Cop'. 'Automatic' (my least favourite of the bunch) would make #1 in Ireland, #2 in Britain and #5 on the Billboard Pop chart. Here in Oz, it made #15 but spent 6 months selling copies. 'I'm So Excited' the title track from the sisters 9th opus was remixed and included on 'Break out' as it had not been a success when originally released in 1982. Australia made it a huge hit, but for some reason other markets didn't originally go for it.

'Baby Come and Get It', included here in its extended form was the 5th and final single released from it, in March of 1985. and was penned by James Ingram and the legendary Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. I just love this sultry, vibey track and the harmonies and production as ever are just brilliant.

I have another Pointer Sisters club track to share too and there are 30 plus clips on my channel that bear their name!
