The film "Pain of Separation" tells the sad and emotional story of engineer Manouchehr who meets a girl named Ariana in the desert. This girl quickly becomes dependent on life and the engineer considers her as his daughter. But one day, two thieves kidnap Ariana and separate her from Manouchehr. This separation is very painful for the engineer and he becomes very nervous and depressed. Not only does he refuse to eat or drink, but his mind is full of worrying thoughts: Is Ariana safe? Is he hungry or full? Is he wearing clothes or not?

Manouchehr's sadness and grief get to such an extent that he becomes seriously ill. Two doctors come to him to treat his body and soul and try to save him from this crisis. Can they help Manouchehr or understand the grief and pain so much that no treatment can save?
