Apothike is a coastal settlement of southern Lesbos, at the southern ends of Prophet Ilias and on the western shores of the entrance to the Gulf of Kalloni (Apothikon bay), opposite the islet of Agios Georgios and at an average altitude of 10. The settlement is approximately 61 km D. of Mytilene .

Podaras Beach
It is located 4 km from Mesotopos village, east of Tavari beach. It is a sandy beach that enchants the visitor, suitable for any water activity.

Tavari,
The port of Mesotopos, is located 2 km south of the settlement and is a coastal settlement with a picturesque sandy beach and a small port that accommodates the fishing boats of the area. The area has many country houses mainly of the residents of Mesotopos and several rooms for rent.

Chrousos Beach
The beach of Chrousos is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of Lesvos, with crystal clear waters.
Chrousos is a sandy beach with a length of about one and a half kilometers . To its left and right, two small capes extend into the sea. In the middle of the beach there is a small river where you can see turtles. Behind the sandy beach there is a small plain. These descriptors may not sound original, but the impression left by our first visit was unique. We knew we wouldn't want to leave here.
The sand in Chroussos is thick and you will understand it from the first moment you walk on it and feel your foot getting lost in it. The sea waters are as cool as they should be, and deepen at a normal rate. They are also dark in color, as in many parts of Lesvos, probably due to the dark sand. Don't be fooled by their color; they are crystal clear. However, what stood out to us in Chrousos is the light, the way the sun hits the beach. In combination with the plain and the many tamarisks (where campers often take refuge), an exotic feeling is created. Not "Caribbean", as is often said about other "exotic" Greek beaches, but rather like being in an oasis, in some desert country. Only here, the oasis is by the sea.

Skala Eresos
Eresos and its port, Skala Eresos, are places that have been inhabited since ancient times. From here was Theophrastus , one of the 7 wise men of antiquity. Eresso was also (probably) the birthplace of Sappho Lesbia, the great lyric poet of antiquity who praised love (and) between women and who gave birth to a global term for homosexual love (lesbian). The poet whom Plato described as the "10th muse".
In Eresos you will not see mass tourism but you will see travelers of all kinds. Families who choose it for the beautiful beach and affordable accommodation. But also "alternatives", young people, people looking for meditation holidays thanks to the Osho Afroz Meditation Center and - as in Lesbos in general - friends of good food.
It is so developed in terms of infrastructure that you don't miss anything, but in a vintage way that recalls more relaxed times of the Greek summer. It is no coincidence that one of the few summer cinemas in the Greek islands still operates in Skala Eresou. Cine Sappho (no surprise about the name).
We don't need to say much about the endless beach of Skala Eresou . It is more than 3 kilometers long. Its central part is the most organized, as we go to the right we encounter less people and a nudist beach. Like its sand, its waters are quite dark, but don't let that fool you. They are spotlessly clean and quite cold, an ideal source of coolness on the days of even the worst heat. Its waters are deep enough, for those who prefer to be in the water from their towel in a few seconds, it is the best possible choice.
