Naaman was the commander of the army of Syria, a person of great importance and status. However, he suffered from leprosy, an incurable disease at the time. Naaman’s wife had a servant girl from Israel who told her mistress that a prophet in Israel, Elisha, could heal him.

Naaman went to Elisha, but instead of healing him directly, Elisha sent a messenger to tell Naaman to bathe in the Jordan River seven times to be cleansed. Naaman was initially angry and reluctant, thinking the rivers of Damascus were better. However, his servants persuaded him to follow the prophet’s instructions. When Naaman finally did as Elisha instructed, he was miraculously healed.

This song highlights the faith and obedience that led to Naaman’s healing, as well as the servant girl’s pivotal role in guiding him to Elisha.

Lyrics

Commander Naaman was brilliant and strong
And I was his wife’s maid for very, very long.
I was brought to Syria when Israel lost the fight,
I served them well and kept in mind to always do what’s right.

Soon I learned the secret that no one wished to tell:
The brave commander Naaman was not so very well,
Leprosy was torturing and eating him alive
And if we all just sit around he’ll surely not survive.

1, 2, 3, 4 - The miracle’s not revealed
5, 6, 7... Yes! Naaman is completely healed!
1, 2, 3, 4 - Be good to everyone!
5, 6, 7... Yes! And God’s will shall be done.

I could have been a careless girl without too much ado,
But I was sure our loving God would show him mercy too.
I let commander know that in my homeland, Israel,
There was a holy man of God and he can make him well.

The hesitating Naaman went to Israel at last,
Suspicious and angry when hearing the request:
Bathe in Jordan seven times, that’s all he had to do,
Just like the prophet Elisha told him to.

1, 2, 3, 4 - The miracle’s not revealed
5, 6, 7... Yes! Naaman is completely healed!
1, 2, 3, 4 - Be good to everyone!
5, 6, 7... Yes! And God’s will shall be done.

Some say that I should have let Naaman die,
Never help in any way,
I want to do what my Father asked me to:
To be like Him every day.

1, 2, 3, 4 - The miracle’s not revealed
5, 6, 7... Yes! Naaman is completely healed!
1, 2, 3, 4 - Be good to everyone!
5, 6, 7... Yes! And God’s will shall be done.

1, 2, 3, 4 - The miracle’s not revealed
5, 6, 7... Yes! Naaman is completely healed!
1, 2, 3, 4 - Be good to everyone!
5, 6, 7... Yes! And God’s will shall be done,

And God’s will shall be done,
And God’s will shall be done!
