A fascinating movie titled 'The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind' is a real life story about a Malawian boy named William Kamkwamba from Wimbe village.

William was forced to stop attending school, because his family couldn't afford the school fees. Despite all the obstacles William used to sneak into the school library and read books about electronics. He experimented with a bicycle dynamo and materials collected in a local scrapyard. Eventually, he made a functioning wind turbine which powered some electrical appliances in his family's house. After the turbine, he built a solar-powered water pump, which supplies drinking water to his village for the first time. William is now living in the USA, but his original windmill still proudly stands next to the house where he was born and it reminds everyone about his incredible story.

After watching this movie, I promised myself that if I come back to Malawi, I'll have to find the village where it all happened. I'm stoked that I managed to find William's house and got the chance to meet his family. But finding his house wasn't too easy and it was a motorcycle ride to remember!

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.

Throughout my journey, I was raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family so he can lead a normal life as best as possible, so please donate generously: https://gogetfunding.com/arewethereyet/
