Jetty fishing for lingcod and other rockfish along the oregon coast. This is going to be my first rock fishing trip of the season, fishing from a jetty, in search of rockfish, specifically some lingcod, but any fish on the line will make for a good day at this point. Rock fishing from a jetty is something i always enjoy and look forward to as the winter season begins to wind down along the Oregon coast.
For my first trip i decided that i would head down to Newport Oregon to fish the jetty along Yaquina bay. Oregon coast fishing starts to really ramp up this time of the year as the lingcod start to come in closer to shore prior to the spawning season.
There are a lot of different jetting fishing setups or jetty fishing rigs that will produce fish but today i am fishing with one of my favorite rock fishing setups which i use a lot whether i'm jetty fishing or rock fishing along the rocky shoreline, and that is the weedless rig also known as the Texas rig. (* I misspoke in the video and called it the carolina rig, which i had been using the last couple of days while surf fishing.
This rock fishing setup has produced a LOT of fish for me in the past and is basically my "go-to" fishing rig when i want to be able to keep my gear along the bottom with the least amount of snags and lost gear.
