In this interview, acclaimed novelist Kate DiCamillo discusses how she uses social media to create new connections with readers and fans, particularly Facebook, which she calls "her notebook."

Kate DiCamillo has won two Newbery Medals, the most prestigious award in one for The Tale of Despereaux and one for her most recent novel, Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures. DiCamillo was also named the 2014-15 National Ambassador for Young People's Literature by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington.

DiCamillo's first published novel, Because of Winn-Dixie, and her most recent, Flora & Ulysses, both earned the prestigious Newbery Media as the most outstanding contribution children's literature. Her first novel, Because of Winn-Dixie, was a Newbery Finalist, and her second novel, The Tiger Rising, went on to become a National Book Award Finalist.
