Transcordilleras is a gravel bikepacking race in Colombia that includes a non-stop, an eight-day, and a three-day format. I headed down to Medellín to do the three-day as my first-ever bikepacking race.

The mountains were enormous, the gravel was brutal, the people were generous and the food was delicious. It was an adventure!

I was lucky enough to test a custom Scarab Paramo made in Retiro, Colombia that I built up with Shimano's new 12-speed mechanical GRX gravel group.

Were my gears low enough? Were my 40- and 45mm tires big enough? Only one way to find out...
