Horton Tower is a classic example of an 18th century folly and was supposedly the tallest non-religious building in Britain. It was constructed in 1750 by Humpfrey Sturt, the Lord of Horton Manor.

It is a five story Gothic red brick structure and was built as an observation tower offering views for miles around, allowing Sturt to observe hunts.

It has become dilapidated over the years and the floors have collapsed leaving just a brick shell. It has since been repurposed and due to its height is now home to mobile phone masts. Restoration work has been conducted in recent years.
