The title "dee jay" refers to someone who plays 12" vinyl records on a 1200 turntable. Over the years, as hip-hop and rap music evolved, the term "dee jay" was widely adopted by turntablists nationwide, giving them a uniform status in the hip-hop scene. However, DOO WOP doesn't use "DJ" before his name because the term doesn't fully capture his talent and ability. Known to many as "Da Bouncemasta," DOO WOP has significantly impacted the hip-hop and mixtape world, earning the status of an urban street legend.

Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in the Bronx, New York, since the age of two, DOO WOP has paid his dues. He progressed from making pause tapes with one turntable to DJing house parties, community events, and proms. Eventually, he performed in front of thousands at major venues in New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Atlanta, Miami, North Carolina, South Carolina, Las Vegas, Japan, Germany, and other international locations.

In 1995, the Mix Tape Award Ceremony was introduced. Since then, DOO WOP has won at least one award per year, including Best Blends Award, Best Personality Award (twice), Best Duo Award (with Tony Touch), the prestigious "Brucie B/Starchild" Award, and the "Most Creative DJ" award, which he values highly. His mix tapes, known for capturing great performances and highlights, earned accolades in press and media, including praise from The Village Voice, which declared "DOO WOP's 95 LIVE is the best album of the year, next to RAEKWON's CUBAN LINKS" in 1995.

From then on, WOP became a benchmark for innovation in mixtapes and was recognized as a hip-hop trendsetter, not just a "deejay." His services were showcased at legendary hip-hop clubs like The Tunnel, The Fever, The Palladium, and Club Esso. However, he didn't stop there. He continued creating new tapes, using parties to keep his musical ear sharp and his influences fresh.

WOP's tapes became ubiquitous, heard blasting from stereos in mom-and-pop stores, barbershops, salons, car stereos, and street corners throughout the tri-state area. His catchy intros and blends became his signature, and he showcased his freestyle abilities and produced tracks with other artists for his mixtape masterpieces. This creativity caught the attention of major record labels, leading to deals with NU TRYBE/VIRGIN Records in 1995 and UNIVERSAL Records in 1999.

DOO WOP pioneered many formats used by deejays today, including skits at the beginning of tapes, collaborations with fellow mixtape DJs, and catchy titles matching the concept of each tape. He also popularized the inclusion of freestyles by well-known artists. Since 1995, some of the best emcees, like Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Keith Murray, Redman, Mobb Deep, AZ, Lost Boyz, Puffy, Big Daddy Kane, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Guru, Raekwon, MOP, KRS-One, Q-Tip, Smif-N-Wessun, Buckshot, 50 Cent, Big Pun, Big L, Shabba Ranks, and many more, have appeared on his tapes out of respect and love for "Da Bouncemasta" and for the street credibility it brings.

DOO WOP's versatility, creativity, and personality, along with his ability to set trends in hip-hop, have made him and his creations a genuine musical experience. DOO WOP has rightfully earned the title of The People's Champion.
