Qays ibn Mulawwah, popularly known as Majnun Layla was an affluent young man who fell helplessly in love with the beautiful Layla. He couldn't stop himself from singing poetry about her.

Out of jealousy over her, her family stopped him from marrying her.
He says:
I don’t ascend high mountains, except because of love
And I don’t sing poetry, except as medicine
