Kappa Biriyani
Kappa biryani is a mix of kappa(tapioca)and beef.Some people call it kappayum erachiyum .It is a food item common in middle kerala mostly between the Christian's  and muslims of kottayam and idukki.

Cuisine : kerala

Ingredients
1.Kappa/Tapioca - 2kg
2.Beef with bones and fat -1kg
3.Grated coconut - 3 cups
4.Chopped coconut  - 3 tbsp
5.Onions  -4 medium size
6.Ginger garlic paste- 2 tbsp
7.Green chilli - 4
8.Chilli powder - 1tbsp
9.Coriander powder - 2tbsp
10.Turmeric powder -1 tsp
11.Garam masala - 1 tsp
12.Coconut oil - 5 tbsp
13.Mustard seed -1 tbsp
14.Curry leaf- 4 twig
15.Salt - as needed 

Kappa Biriyani recipe
1. Slice the tapioca in to small pieces of roughly 2cm length and width and clean it well under running water 

2.  Add salt and cook in water until kappa become soft ( Tapioca should be fully immersed in water )
3 Once it is fully cooked ,drain off the water completely and keep it aside .

4.  Cut beef with bones and fat in to small pieces same size that of tapioca

5.  Add 3 table spoon coconut oil in a pan fried the onions well and add 2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste and green chilies .Fry it again for some time. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala stir 3 minutes in a very low flame. Add this mixture with beef and add curry leaves salt and one cup of water. Mix it well.

6. Cook the beef in a pressure cooker until done (5 whistle will be enough )
7.  Fry the grated coconut in a pan with out oil until coconut get golden   brown colour allow to cool and  grind it in a smooth paste.
8  Fry the chopped coconut in a pan with one table spoon oil until golden brown and keep it aside.
9.  Move the beef into a big vessel and add the coconut paste and 2 cups of hot water. Boil the meat and mix it with the tapioca .
10.  Give low flame to the vessel to keep the mix hot while mixing. Cover it with a banana leaf or a lid.Cook for 5 minutes.
11.  Heat 1 tablespoon  oil in a pan,splutter one tablespoon mustard seed and add curry leaf for seasoning.
12.  Add this seasoning mix to the tapioca meat mix. 
13. Garnish our kappa Biriyani with fried chopped coconut.
Don't forget to serve it hot.
