In this video I analyze naval combat in HoI4 to figure out which ships would comprise the best naval composition.

Update: Several people have mentioned that naval piercing works differently than land piercing. Naval piercing appears to be non-binary and scales based on the difference between the attacker's piercing and the defender's armor. This would explain why superheavies don't totally crush regular battleships. However, for smaller ships like destroyers, the piercing is so low that every shot that isn't a torpedo is basically wasted.
