Mount Elbert - Colorado’s highest peak standing at 14,440’ (4401m.) Elbert is the 2nd highest peak in the continental US falling just short of Mount Whitney in California.

This was my second completed solo 14er and it was a very challenging, but rewarding hike. This was the hardest thing that I've done so far. I took the northern route off of Halfmoon road starting at 5:45am.

Incredible views of Mount Massive and Twin Lakes can be seen just above treeline. There is a false summit near the top but the true summit is a short ridge away.

It took me 4hrs to summit with almost 4,500’ of elevation gain within 5 miles. Above tree line was STEEP but we made it.
