Creating a strong and solid foundation that will perfectly ground our future cybersecurity professionals by ensuring that they are ready and equipped not only with the basic tactical and operational cybersecurity skills, but also well rounded on the international and local policies, standards, and regulations for this relevant field – the Philippine Institute of Cyber Security Professionals Certified Cyber Security Professional Program (PICSPro CCSPP) student-trainees efficaciously underwent the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) Essentials Training last August 27-28.

As a vital part of an organization’s cybersecurity culture, governance establishes a solid operational framework. Risk management on the other hand proactively addresses potential challenges. And compliance ensures adherence to legal and ethical standards. Hence, knowing and understanding the fundamental GRC principles and concepts are crucial in fortifying the cybersecurity posture of every enterprise.

For this module, the student-trainees were fortunate to be trained and educated by no less than Ms. Ellen Solosod – the former Deputy Chief Information Security Officer of a renowned telco company in the country, and now a Senior Partner and the Chief Operations Officer of the Angel T. Redoble and Associates CISO as a Service (ATRACaaS). Throughout the program, the batch were engaged in several demanding yet exciting scenarios designed to challenge and refine their critical thinking skills. Through the proactive discussion and interactive activities, the students were able to establish the significance of GRC, and subsequently relate these to real life situations as they apply these along with the skills that they gained from their previous modules. After hurdling the rigorous group dynamics and individual assessment, the student-trainees were awarded with a Certificate of Completion which added yet another mark in their growing professional portfolio.
