The story of Huldah the prophetess.
Welcome to our video about the life and legacy of Huldah, a prophetess and biblical figure in the Old Testament. In this video, we will explore who Huldah was, her unique role as a female prophet, and the significance of her prophecy during the time of King Josiah.

Huldah was a prophetess who lived during the time of the Kingdom of Judah, around the 7th century BCE. She was married to Shallum, who held an important position in King Josiah's court. Though little is known about her personal life, the Bible describes Huldah as living in Jerusalem, in the Second District.

As a prophetess, Huldah delivered an oracle of tremendous significance. When the Book of the Law was discovered during renovations on Solomon's Temple, King Josiah sent his advisors to consult with Huldah. She prophesied that judgment would come to Judah for their idolatry, but that Josiah himself would be spared due to his repentance. This prophecy helped spur Josiah's reforms in Judah.

Huldah is a unique figure as one of the few female prophets named in the Old Testament. As an authoritative voice, she counseled the king and priests. Her legacy stands out for how she exercised religious authority in a male-dominated culture. Even the king and his advisors sought her counsel, indicating the power and influence she held as a prophetess.

In this video, we will take a deeper look at Huldah's story and the significance of her role during a pivotal time in the Kingdom of Judah. Her prophecy influenced King Josiah's rule and the religious landscape of Judah. Exploring her life and message can give insight into the role of women, the nature of prophecy, and the religious climate during the 7th century BCE.
