"Myanmar puppetry dates back several centuries.  It was probably well established in Myanmar during the Pagan Era, eleventh century, and records of arts were made in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.  Since then it has trod a dogged track, sinking time and again, into popularity.  This process of revival and decline has recurred repeatedly.

Puppetry was in great demand at the courts of the Myanmar royalty, especially during the Kone Bong Era. The themes of the puppet plays were drawn from the ten great lives and the 550 Birth Stories of Lord Buddha and from historic legend.  The Myanmar puppet still holds its own national characteristics as it originated in Myanmar.  The Myanmar puppet shows the original Myanmar tradition as it includes all the artistic works such as Myanmar dancing and music, wood carving, sequin embroidery, and painting.

With the demise of Myanmar royalty the art commenced a sharp decline, and during prewar days efforts for its revival were undertaken with meager results.  At the moment, we have with great effort, discovered artists or puppet master-craftsmen of great ability, from different corners of the city.  We presume the display of the ability will thrill you to the core.
Our desire is to give you a memorable glimpse into a dying art, which we hope will once again find its popular place in the entertaining world."
