Al Aqsa Mosque is built on a rock in Jerusalem. This place is Holy to Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
Next to the Al Aqsa Mosque, is the Dome of the Rock, which covers a large, limestone outcrop which is where Abraham was going to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
The Al Aqsa mosque is said to be the place where the prophet, PBUH, started his journey to visit the Seven Heavens. The Prophet PBUH returned at the same moment he left, with the door knocker, on what presumably had been a church at the time, was still swinging. I have never been there but my husband says it was where he decided he would consider embracing Islam when he visited it in 1966 and sent a postcard back to England to record the event. He says it is a very powerful place. This mosque is now threatened.
