I got a reply to my query about long-term care waiting list times and what I’m told is that it is several years! They are prioritizing moving people from hospital beds into care facilities.

There’s a second stream, however, and that is where there’s an urgent requirement where people are unable to care for their loved ones at home in a safe way anymore, and where they have exhausted all available supports. Apparently that list is weeks to months, so that’s much better, but we are not there. This is not an urgent request and I’m not sure that we will ever be in that situation.

Anyway, I’m on the fence whether or not to proceed with the application. Not doing so certainly relieves me of the tremendous emotional burden of making this decision. Like I said, I’m on the fence… I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do.
