What to do with 1 day in Eidfjord!
Eidfjord is situated at the end of the EID Fjord, an inner branch of the large Hardangerfjorden.

Vøringsfossen waterfall - the most famous waterfall in Norway!

Watch large amounts of water plunge 182 m from the Hardangervidda plateau into the Måbødalen valley.

Viewing platforms near the Fossli Hotel allow you to take in this spectacular site!

The Heareid Viking Graves - the largest collection of ancient burial sites in western Norway, with 350 graves dating from 400 - 1.000 AD.

Nestled in the heart of the Hardangerfjord countryside, dwarfed by the surrounding mountains, the old Eidfjord church, a stonebuilt church from about A.D.1309.

We enjoyed a scenic walking trail from the village. (note: there is a trolltrain you can take 😉)
You walk along the river Rio which leads to Eidfjordvatnet, a small lake with a beach. After an uphill climb, you reach The Heareid Viking Graves.

🤩 walk along a plateau with small farmsteads scattered about

🤩 then a beautiful viewpoint where we could see the town, the fjords and our ship!

Eidfjord ranks up there as one of my all-time favourite destinations!
