Thank you, it is much appreciated.

Separated by over half a millennia from his true master, Plato who was born in 427 BCE, Plotinus born in 204 CE, interprets and synthesises Platonic philosophy with the thinking of Aristotle and the Pre-Socratics to deliver a novel ontology. Plotinus is the father of Neoplatonism and his principle writings are contained in the Enneads, which means nine in Greek. While the philosophy from Plotinus and his followers is today called Neoplatonism, they understood themselves to be simply Platonists, that is, thinkers who follow Plato’s doctrines, despite how innovative their resultant theories turned out to be.
Metaphysics is the basis for Plotinus’s philosophy, with its epistemology and ethics a result of his metaphysics compared to Plato whose writings were more concerned with ethics and politics. The metaphysics of Neoplatonism remains an important and coherent system in philosophy though its biggest impact may arguably be felt in theology, where its ideas shaped doctrines in religions.
